We heard about SHED Healdsburg from both of our friends and industry professionals, and have been wanting to visit. We finally went on my birthday in September and it was everything we imagined AND more!
SHED is an award-winning market, cafe, and modern grange event space all under one roof. It has that industrial farmhouse feel with all white interior and ceiling and the stainless steel clear garage doors, paired with blonde wood furnishings. It makes the space very bright and airy.
As you walk in, SHED is organized in a very systematic way. The sit-down cafe is all the way in the back of the store, and they serve a good variety of breakfast, lunch and evening items. They also have a weekend brunch.
Darren ordered the Heritage Hen Hash with poached eggs, potatoes, mustard cream, wild fennel, and spring onion conserva!
I had their Liberty Farms Braised Duck Leg with little gems, pickled shiitake mushrooms, miso XO vinaigrette, and ground sunflower seeds!
At the front of the store, you will find their shop full of the latest housewares – pots, pans, serving dishes, utensils. In the middle it’s their larder for items such as cured meats, preserved fish, artisan cheeses, freshly milled grains.
They have quite a good selection of earthen housewares…
Their coffee bar is also right at the entrance of the store, so if you want to grab a quick cup of coffee, you don’t have to walk far!
On the right side of the store, you will find fresh produce, herbs, and flowers… Their vegetables and fruits are fresh out of their garden and farm. Everything is super fresh (and colorful)!
Behind all the produce is their gourmet and specialty food/condiment section, which SHED calls it the “pantry.” Here you will find SHED’s own jam preserves, honey, salt, pepper, vinegar, salad dressing…etc.
There is a wooden Austrian mill onsite at the store that looks straight out of Pinocchio’s workshop!
Upstairs right above the store is the 2,750 square feet “Modern Grange” with lots of window light from the front. It is where you can rent out as an event space. The open floor plan has access to the main kitchen, outdoor terrace, and balcony which make this a stylish, comfortable spot to entertain. It can accommodate up to 125 guests for a sit-down reception, or 180 guests standing for cocktail events.
